15.   After take off, Squadron Leader Bates once at bombing altitude reported that conditions were suitable for a visual drop although the bombing line was obscured in places. On completion of the Initial Bombing run, the Task Force Commander gave permission for the Live run to be carried out.

16.   The run down the bombing line was without incidence, and the radar monitoring on the ground showed the aircraft to be wel1 placed on the bombing line of 164 T. The weapon was dropped at the correct instant of release, and the aircraft then carried out a normal escape manoeuvre, Squadron Leader Bates giving a running commentary throughout this phase of the operation.

17.   No damage was reported by the captain from the effects of the flash and blast. The aircraft being cleared back to base some 5 minutes after the weapon explosion.

18.   The subsequent results gave the bombing error as 252 yards, and full scientific recording were obtained from the equipment carried in the aircraft.
